Tonight was the last class for Course 3 and it was fun, fun, fun! The only requirement was we had to make a 2 tier cake, beyond that we had free reign. I went with fondant, because it’s my new best friend. Originally I had wanted to make a red and black marbled cake, but sadly my order of fondant didn’t make it in time and all I has was white…so white cake it was. I was pretty undecided on what I wanted to do with my cake when I got to class, all I knew was I wanted to make some fondant roses. My black fondant came in right before class, so being the dark and twisty girl that I am I made black roses and sprinkled them with black cake sparkles.
I decided to keep my cake kind of simple and classy, so I added black fondant bands at the bottom of each tier and made a gum paste/fondant skull applique with more sparkles for the top. Being obsessed with all things red and black I had to add a few red details with the little bow and some red buttons.
So here is the final product, I am very much in love with it!
